Fluid Art
Fluid art (or acrylic pouring) is a technique which can be used to create beautiful, flowing shapes. It can be used alone to create abstract images but I like to use it in combination with traditional brushwork. I love the way colours combine together to create effects that are not achievable with traditional methods.
Acrylic paint is combined with a medium to make a paint that when poured on a canvas will flow across the surface. It can then be manipulated using different techniques to give the desired effect. It is very unpredictable, often the paint doesn't cooperate and it sometimes takes two or more attempts to achieve the effect I'm looking for.
In this paintings below this technique was used to paint the wave.
